David Kaneria
Accredited CBT Therapist for anxiety and depression
I exclusively use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat anxiety and depression. I only use tools proven to be effective, that way you have the best chance of recovery in the quickest time possible. CBT aims to treat your anxiety or low mood by exploring how your thoughts are affecting your emotions and the way you act. Treatment is proactive and you will be challenged to change!
Using CBT, typically only 10-20 treatment sessions are required.

About me and my practice
I only offer virtual therapy.
Why I use virtual therapy:
Effective: I have been a virtual specialist for years. Research shows it's just as effective as face-to-face. It also allows me to quickly draw diagrams, show worksheets and share tools easily during sessions.
Comfort and Convenience: Virtual therapy sessions offer the convenience of accessing therapy from the comfort of your own home. There's no need to worry about travel or commuting, allowing you to focus on your well-being without added stress.
Flexible Scheduling: With virtual therapy, you have the flexibility to schedule sessions that fit seamlessly into your lifestyle. Whether it's a busy workday or managing family commitments, virtual sessions can be easily integrated into your daily routine.
Experience
I have years of experience working in the United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS) as a type of mental health specialist known as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner working with those with common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.
Then I moved up to becoming a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, overseeing the training, supervision and development of other therapists.
After this role, I trained as a High-Intensity CBT Therapist and set up a private practice working with patients.
Qualifications
I hold four university degrees in psychology:
Abnormal and Clinical Psychology - Bachelor of Science (With Honours) - Anglia Ruskin University.
Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience - Master of Science (With honours) - Anglia Ruskin University.
Evidenced-Based Low-intensity CBT - Postgraduate Certificate - University of Essex.
Evidenced-Based High-Intensity CBT - Postgraduate Certificate - University of East Anglia.
I am a BABCP accredited CBT therapist. Accreditation means that a CBT therapist has both core professional mental health training or recognised equivalent, as well as specific CBT training. To be accredited, members must demonstrate that they meet high standards of training and experience in CBT. They also commit to maintaining our standards of clinical practice, clinical supervision and continuing professional development. Accredited members are audited to ensure that they continue to meet these expectations.
